Overview

Galahe Wild Hot Spring (嘎拉賀野溪溫泉) is located in Hualing Village, Fuxing District, Taoyuan City. Cascading from the cliffs, the natural hot spring offers a unique spa experience.

The spring is a weakly alkaline carbonated spring, clear and odorless, with a temperature of around 38~45°C. Remarkably, the clear water is potable and said to be beneficial for skin conditions and skin rejuvenation.

The trail to Galahe Wild Hot Spring is approximately 1.5 kilometers long, with a 350-meter descent from the parking lot. The first part is a steep cement path, followed by stone steps. A river crossing is required. The trail features two pavilions for resting. The overall path is easy, accessible and beginner-friendly.

Due to a typhoon last year, the riverbed has significantly changed, providing more space for camping. This makes it perfect for one-day trips or camping, allowing you to enjoy the hot spring in both the morning and evening.

Recent Updates

  • Updated time: January 18, 2025.
  • 4 man-made pools have been created, offering a more comfortable soaking experience.
  • The water level to cross the river is approximately knee-deep (for someone 163cm tall) and spans about 1 meter. Water shoes or sandals with good grip are recommended.
  • Camping site
    1. Forest Campsite: Can accommodate 4~5 tents (2~3 people each). It’s about a 10-minute walk from the hot spring and has no water source.
    2. Riverside Campsite: Very small, suitable for only 1 tent (2~3 people). It’s a 3-minute walk from the hot spring.
    3. Riverbed Campsite: Can accommodate around 10~15 tents, but avoid the collapsed area on the opposite bank.
  • Reminder
    1. The hot spring is on the other side of the river, requiring you to cross the river once. To avoid potential dangers from flash floods or rockfalls, it’s best to skip visiting during the rainy season or after consecutive days of rain.
    2. The trail conditions of wild hot springs can change dramatically due to earthquakes, heavy rains, or typhoons, which may result in trail detours or even the hot spring being buried. Additionally, water levels and river conditions can change rapidly. To ensure a safe trip, it’s crucial to check the latest updates of trail and river conditions before your visit on the 台灣溫泉探勘網 (Taiwan’s largest wild hot spring group). Though it’s a Taiwanese group, posting in English is totally fine— believe me, many locals will be happy to share the latest updates with you!
